Gatton Church of Christ is aligned with the purpose and values of Churches of Christ Queensland. While Churches of Christ Queensland does not have a set creed or written statement of faith, the following principles have been foundational to the movement since the beginnings. Early catch-cries are in italics:
Exclude sectarian names, using the title of Christian only.
Use the New Testament as the only rule of faith and practice, not man-made creeds
Promote the rights to private judgment, liberty of conscience and mutual responsibility
▸ Faith is available to anyone who chooses to believe
▸ Make Christian character the only real test of membership and fellowship
▸ Practise believers’ baptism
▸ Observe the Lord’s Supper weekly
Establish congregational government, plurality of elders, the rights of lay leaders to lead, and congregational cooperation and support
Work towards the union of all followers of Christ so that the world will believe.

As our name implies, ‘Churches of Christ’ is founded on the teachings and values of Jesus Christ who calls on every one of us to individually and collectively be a light in the world through the expression of His love. He calls us to work together as one body in serving others, and to see this not just as something we do, but as a way of life.
